SIP Calculator

Project a systematic investment plan: what regular monthly contributions grow into, how much of that is your money versus market return, and what an annual step-up adds.

Every figure below is labelled in the currency you pick. Amounts are not converted — enter values in the same currency.

Why a step-up changes the outcome so much

Raising the contribution by 10% a year roughly doubles the final corpus over twenty years compared with a flat amount, because the increases land early enough to compound. If your income rises with inflation and your investment does not, you are quietly saving less every year in real terms.

Rupee-cost averaging, honestly

Investing on a schedule buys more units when prices are low and fewer when they are high, which lowers your average cost against a volatile market. It does not beat investing a lump sum when markets rise steadily — roughly two thirds of the time historically. Its real value is behavioural: it removes the decision, and the decision is what people get wrong.

The formula

M = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i), where i is the monthly return and n the number of instalments

Every result on this page comes from this formula. Nothing is rounded until the final display, so figures match a spreadsheet to the cent.

How to use the SIP Calculator

  1. Fill in each field with your own figures — the defaults are only there as an example.
  2. The result updates as you type, so there is no button to press.
  3. Check the breakdown under the main result for the supporting numbers.
  4. Use the copy button to take the result with you, or share the link to reload the same inputs.

SIP Calculator — frequently asked questions

What return should I assume?

Use something you can defend. Broad equity indices have returned roughly 10% nominal over long periods; assuming 12% or more builds a plan that only works if the future is kinder than the past.

Is SIP better than a lump sum?

Not mathematically, in a rising market. It is better practically, because it turns investing into a habit that survives bad months.

Is this sip calculator free to use?

Yes. Every calculator on the site is free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser, so your figures never leave your device.

How accurate is the result?

The maths is exact for the formula shown on the page. Accuracy in the real world depends on your inputs and on assumptions the formula cannot see, so treat the output as a well-grounded estimate rather than a quote.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. The page is responsive, weighs a few kilobytes and works offline once loaded, so it behaves the same on a phone as on a desktop.
